Lewis and Clark County Fairgrounds

Last Chance Stampede & Fair

It is with great sadness Lewis and Clark County Fairgrounds announces the cancellation of the 2020 Last Chance Stampede and Fair due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Stampede and Fair is Helena’s largest community event and has been a staple in our community for 60 years. The decision did not come lightly and was made with consideration for all of our community, exhibitors, food vendors and staff involved; their health and safety is our primary concern.

With the uncertainty of when Phase 3 of the reopening process will occur, it would not be fiscally responsible to the taxpayers of Lewis and Clark County to proceed with the event. With possible social distancing still in effect, it would not be possible to sell the quantity of tickets needed for both the concert and three nights of PRCA rodeo to recoup the costs that come with putting these events on.

We are working with Cole Swindell and his management to reschedule him for the 2021 Stampede and Fair. Once confirmed, all tickets purchased will be good for 2021. Anyone wanting a refund will have until June 17 to make that request. If you would like a refund, please email lgustafson@lccfairgrounds.com with your order number and he can process the refund. If you paid cash/check, you will need to bring your ticket to the Fairgrounds Office.

With an approved plan from the County Health Department, we may still be able to bring Northstar Carnival in this summer. We will release details as they become available. We will also be submitting a plan to continue with the Last Chance Ranch Rodeo on Sunday, July 26.

The Lewis and Clark County 4H will continue with their show and auction. For more information, please contact the County Extension office at 447-8346.

The “Last Chance Stampede Rodeo” has been voted the Medium Rodeo of the year in 2017 and Most improved Rodeo of the year in the Montana Pro Rodeo Circuit in 2009 and 2010 and in 2011! Three-time PRCA Rodeo Announcer of the Year, Wayne Brooks will again call the action. Award winning stock contractor Kesler Championship Rodeo, from right here in Helena, features many award winning broncs and bulls that will perform over the three nights. Montana Circuit Cowboys and Cowgirls and top PRCA contestants from all over the United States will compete in seven PRCA sanctioned events.

The new grandstand has seating for 4,600 and has twice as many women’s restroom facilities as in the past. It also has an elevator to the top of the grandstands for access to ADA approved seating. This is the premiere outdoor venue in the State of Montana.

The 36,000 square foot, air conditioned Exhibit Hall hosts 4-H and open competitive exhibits where you can view all the winning entries from photography to quilts, 50 commercial vendors and an entertainment stage and other great events. Northstar Amusements Carnival sets up over 20 rides with a separate area for younger children in our popular “Kiddie Carnival”. There are over 20 food vendors on site with additional commercial vendors and displays outside, an outdoor entertainment tent and petting zoo.
