Investing in our community by becoming a Friend of the Fairgrounds has made a big difference in the work the Fair Board has accomplished. The list of work completed is impressive.
We have removed the old West Barn Complex and the old administration building.
We have installed new livestock pens behind the Multi-Purpose Building.
We resurfaced with gravel, the east and west parking lots.
We cleaned up the pond and expanded the wet lands area south of the pond.
We purchased five portable bleachers for use in the Exhibit Hall and Multi-purpose Building.
Multiple painting projects each year have put a fresh face to the bathrooms and picnic shelters.
In 2012, as promised, we built a new electronic front gate for the Fairgrounds.
In 2013 we laid down over 6,700 cubic yards of millings to improve the roads in and around the Fairgrounds and put a hard surface on the entire east parking lot.
In 2014 a fog coat on the east parking lot and seal coats on the interior roads have given a long life to the Fairgrounds road surfaces.
In 2015 we began focusing our attention on the continuing clean-up of the Fairgrounds, removing materials that are no longer needed and rehabilitating equipment that can still serve us.
The new work to be done is just as impressive as our past accomplishments.
In 2016, the Fair Board has set priorities for new improvements that include creating a new, larger Promenade (the grass park area next to the Multi-purpose Building) that will feature a Flag and flowers area at the south end and a new tree and brick area at the north end. HBIA working with the Fairgrounds Staff is committed to remodeling the VIP building at the northwest end of the Outdoor Performance Arena. We will upgrade with new playground equipment the children’s park near the outdoor shelters. All these projects are multi-year efforts that will be paid for by seeking grants and relying on the generosity of “Friends of the Fairgrounds”.
You working with us, will make all this and much more happen at your Fairgrounds. Join Friends today.
